Visitors are warmly welcomed to the Waterbury site, the only Ben & Jerry’s factory open to the public. Built in 1985, this factory continues to manufacture upwards of 350,000 pints per day while offering fans a glimpse into the company’s humble beginnings. The small Scoop shop, Gift shop, and tour route have remained fairly unchanged over the years.

The 30-minute guided tour begins with a quick movie to introduce Ben & Jerry’s company culture and values, followed by a short walk to the glassed-in mezzanine overlooking the production room floor. Here, the tour guide explains the pint-making process. To sweeten the experience, guests receive a sample of one of Ben & Jerry’s chunks*. The tour concludes in the Flavor Room with a tasting of one of their euphoric flavors* and a cow joke or two. *Nondairy, vegan options are available.

Live manufacturing is not guaranteed. Tickets are released online two weeks in advance and may be available onsite, although availability is very limited and not guaranteed.

Outside, visitors can explore the Flavor Graveyard, enjoy the playground, take in mountain views, and access restrooms.
