University of Vermont Morgan Horse Farm

74 Battell Dr., Weybridge, VT

The University of Vermont Morgan Horse Farm is a stunning Victorian-era barn nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of the Champlain Valley, in the small village of Weybridge (just outside Middlebury).

On the National Register for Historic Sites, this working farm was established in 1878 and is home to forty registered Morgan horses, the Vermont State animal. Through a guided tour, guests learn how the history of Vermont and the United States is closely tied to the history of the Morgan horse, and what makes a Morgan horse so special. This UVM teaching farm has multiple educational programs. Students often give demonstrations of horse riding, driving, and training as they manage the herd with Morgan Horse Farm staff.

Guests are encouraged to bring sturdy shoes for walking on the wooded trails and picturesque grounds. Great photo ops with the baby horses and their mothers, and the life-size bronze statue of the first Morgan horse, Figure. Educational events occur throughout the year. Admission fee to grounds, gift shop located in historic main barn.
